I arrive in Hyderabad and settle in at The Taj Falaknuma Hotel.

The Hotel is the renovated Falaknuma Palace formerly owned by The Nizams. It was restored to its original glory under the guidance of Princess Esra Şah, The first wife of Nizam VII after it was leased to Taj Hotels for 30 years.

The name ‘Falaknuma’ means ‘Mirror of the Sky’. The Palace is built in the shape of a scorpion and it is a rare blend of Italian and Tudor architecture.

Falaknuma Palace is breath taking, with credit to its unique Jade collection, famed dining room with a table that seats more than a 100 guests and the world’s largest collection of 40 Venetian chandeliers to name only a few of the wonders it supports.

I decide to take a tour around Hyderabat which is famous for its diamonds, glass bangles and Char Minar Mosque. Built between 1591-1612, Char Minar is the showpiece in the centre of the city. It has tall slender minarets with spiral staircases and huge arches on each side. On the second floor is a beautiful mosque and a large water tank in the middle.
